Dan’s Hardware Country was created as a means to be my own person and would control my own destiny. Well, good luck with that ! As everyone finds out through trial and error, life is basically a roller coaster ride. A young man or woman, full of ideas and dreams have illusions of grandeur and riches. As you age, you finally become aware of life’s one basic truth, you can’t handle it alone.There are a few survivors that make it with you until wisdom finally sets in. One is your mate. She and I both discovered that the only pleasure worth hanging your hat on is your kids, grandkids, your God, and your sanity. When considering what to proclaim to be my mission statement I feel that what is necessary and imperative at this present time is to seek to bring the people and communities together. This includes businesses, schools, organizations, ( such as churches and other civic groups). You know ! The butchers, the bakers and the candle stickmakers. The whole ball of wax. We must unite for a common good. How? Why? Would you do something as ridiculous as that ? Self preservation sounds pretty reasonable to me ! Our society is one generation removed from the farm, the industrial revolution, the Great Society, the times when people first learned trades, good working conditions and meaningful family life styles. In a very short time we lost contact with all the things that made us a great country and loving neighbors. At what point and at what cost will we be awakened to find that we have lost our most precious gifts ? The ones that we and our parents worked so hard to achieve? One basic fact is that people are in reality one big “human” race, not politically separated as we would be led to believe. Enough of the rhetoric and the talking heads! I personally, am going to make it my life’s work to attempt to slow this machine down just long enough to try to communicate to my friends ,customers, business dealings, with manufacturers, and the like, to any person with morale convictions is that we are all entitled to, and should be encouraged to, keep the basic rights that our fore-fathers fought and died for.This is worth working for and re-establishing. A business doesn’t make you an authority or a politician. It doesn’t entitle you to be self consumed or self righteous.The only thing it can be used for is to be a means to illustrate that a subject that is as important as this one is not only a quest but also a responsibility.We owe this to our future offspring and fellow American citizens. If a person fails to try he also fails to exist.I can’t presume to think that anyone reading this is going to be persuaded to jump up and down and proclaim his or her devotion to this narrative. But it could be just provocative enough to hit a nerve or maybe a heart.
